Travis Scott was released from jail after being arrested in Paris on Friday due to an alleged altercation with a security guard, and he will not face any charges.

According to sources close to the 33-year-old rapper, born Jacques Bermon Webster, there are no intentions to press charges, and no one was harmed during the incident. The arrest occurred at the five-star George V hotel in Paris when a security guard tried to intervene in a supposed dispute between Scott and his bodyguard.

The sources indicated that Scott’s bodyguard was not injured, and the situation was merely an overreaction by French authorities to a verbal disagreement.

The Paris prosecutor’s office informed Variety that the offense was “insufficiently characterized,” leading to no charges being filed against the rapper.

Early on Friday, French prosecutors confirmed to People magazine that Scott was taken into custody by police.

“The prosecutor’s office previously stated, ‘I can confirm that on August 9, 2024, just after 5 a.m., police were called to the Georges V Hotel and arrested the individual known as Travis Scott for allegedly assaulting a security guard.’

The statement continued, ‘The security guard had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard. The investigation was handed over to the 1st judicial police district by the Paris prosecutor’s office.'”

At the time, a representative for the rapper stated, “We are in direct communication with the local Parisian authorities to quickly resolve this matter and will provide updates when appropriate.”

A source close to Scott mentioned, “After several days of being pursued and harassed by paparazzi, upon entering his hotel early this morning, and following an evening of being overwhelmed with no assistance, Travis was unfortunately arrested at his hotel after an altercation with his own bodyguard.”

This arrest occurred just 24 hours after Scott managed to avoid one of two charges stemming from a June incident in Miami Beach, Florida, where he was arrested for disorderly intoxication and trespassing after shouting at people on a yacht.

Scott did not attend court last week, but his attorney was present when prosecutors officially dismissed the disorderly intoxication charge, according to TMZ. However, the prosecution is still pursuing a misdemeanor trespassing charge against the rapper, the outlet reported.

The trial for the misdemeanor trespassing charge is scheduled for September.
