The actor has expressed admiration for Harrison Ford’s career, which has spanned six decades.
Action star Tom Cruise conveyed his stance on retirement in just four clear words, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “I will never stop.”
Now 62, Cruise is busy promoting Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which debuted last week at Cannes before its theatrical release over Memorial Day weekend. When asked whether the upcoming eighth film would mark the end of the franchise, he responded, “It’s the final! It’s not called ‘final’ for nothing.”
Next, the three-time Golden Globe winner was questioned about a remark he made two years ago regarding his respect for Harrison Ford, who was 80 when he starred in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. When The Hollywood Reporter asked if he still held that view, Cruise responded, “I actually said I’m going to keep making movies into my 80s; in fact, I plan to continue into my 100s.”
He added, “I will never stop. I’ll keep doing action, drama, comedy — films of all kinds. I’m genuinely excited about it.”
“There have been countless rewarding experiences working with filmmakers, crews, and the diverse cultures we’ve encountered,” Cruise shared during a red carpet interview. “Everything I’ve learned—and continue to learn—about storytelling, life, leadership, character, and all aspects of filmmaking has been truly exceptional.”
He added, “I feel incredibly lucky to create the films I do, and I absolutely love it. Making movies is my passion.”
The Final Reckoning is already receiving positive reviews from critics who saw it before its wide release. One described it as “whip-smart and razor-sharp,” while another praised it as “an exhilarating adrenaline rush that thrills both the mind and heart, featuring awe-inspiring stunts at their finest.”
The Mission: Impossible series, which debuted in 1996 and is inspired by the 1960s TV show, has grown into a dynamic action franchise known for Tom Cruise’s daring stunts and complex espionage stories. The movies have earned over $4 billion worldwide, with Fallout (2018) being the highest-grossing installment.
