Timothy Wayne, an emerging country artist, opens up about overcoming the intimidation of watching his famous relatives, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, perform on stage.

For years, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have navigated Hollywood with both grace and humility. Now, their nephew, rising country artist Timothy Wayne, is carving out his own path in music while drawing inspiration from their legendary careers.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, 22-year-old Tennessee native Wayne opened up about the influence his famous uncle and aunt have had on his career and how their guidance has helped him navigate the challenges of the music industry.

“Uncle Tim and Aunt Faith were actually the reason I didn’t consider pursuing music earlier,” Wayne admitted, reflecting on his recent live release of the classic track, “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys.”

“It wasn’t that they discouraged me — quite the opposite. They encouraged me in so many ways. But when you grow up watching giants like that perform, it’s hard to look at yourself and think, ‘I can do that too.’”

He added, “I’ve watched them perform since I was a kid, seeing how they commanded a crowd and earned respect while staying humble and treating everyone around them with kindness. I admired them deeply, but at the same time, I felt like I couldn’t reach that level.”

Wayne, who recently opened for McGraw on the Standing Room Only Tour, said he never imagined following in their footsteps in such a public way.

“It started when I was recording, and Tim was showing Faith a song. They both texted me, saying, ‘You should really do this.’ Their belief in me, combined with my parents’ support, helped me finally start believing in myself,” he said.

When asked about the most valuable advice he’s received from McGraw and Hill, Wayne emphasized patience. “You’ll deal with loud personalities, messed-up schedules, and all sorts of challenges. The key is to stay patient and calm — reacting otherwise won’t help.”

Although Wayne is preparing to graduate from Louisiana State University next year, he remains focused on building his own career, separate from his famous relatives.

“At first, I didn’t want Tim involved at all because I wanted to stand on my own two feet,” Wayne said. “But it wasn’t long before everyone realized we were related, and I just had to embrace it.”

He has already shared the stage with artists like McGraw, Lee Brice, Justin Moore, Clay Walker, and Jake Owen, demonstrating his determination to make his mark while learning from the best.
