Attorneys for the pop star argue she has “no significant involvement” in the case, though she could sit for a deposition in October if ordered by the court.

Taylor Swift has been drawn into the legal clash unfolding between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
The singer might be required to give a deposition in Lively’s sexual assault case against Baldoni, though her attorney emphasized this would only happen if the court compels her to testify.
In a letter dated Sept. 12 to Judge Lewis Liman, obtained by Fox News Digital, Swift’s lawyer clarified that the pop star “has not agreed” to participate in a deposition and has consistently argued she holds “no material role” in the proceedings. The filing added that, should Swift ultimately be ordered to appear, she would be available during the week of Oct. 20, provided the parties resolve their disagreements.
By contrast, Baldoni’s attorneys submitted a Sept. 11 letter claiming Swift had already committed to sitting for questioning between Oct. 20 and Oct. 25, according to Variety. That same day, Lively’s legal team filed its own response aimed at Wayfarer Studios, which had requested an extension of the discovery deadline in order to question Swift.
In the filing, Lively’s lawyer Michael Gottlieb argued that the defense had offered “no evidence” to support their assertion that Swift agreed to testify, calling the claim insufficient to justify altering the discovery schedule.
Representatives for Swift and Baldoni declined to comment when contacted by Fox News Digital.
The case stems from Lively’s lawsuit against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment during the filming of It Ends With Us, which premiered in August 2024. Lively has since alleged that Baldoni also orchestrated a smear campaign intended to damage her reputation.
Baldoni countered with his own lawsuit in January, filed in the Southern District of New York, accusing Lively of harassing him, his family, and colleagues. His team asserted that Lively lacked proof of any smear effort and instead fabricated claims of harassment to repair her public image.
Her husband, Ryan Reynolds, was also named in Baldoni’s complaint, which accused the Deadpool star of defamation, privacy violations, interference, and extortion, labeling him a “co-conspirator.”
In June, Judge Liman dismissed Baldoni’s case against both Lively and Reynolds.
