McEntire and Linn both appear in the sitcom Happy’s Place together.
The Queen of Country may have finally found her perfect match.
Country music icon Reba McEntire, 69, remains deeply in love with Rex Linn, whom she calls the “love of my life.” Reflecting on her relationship after two previous marriages, McEntire shared how her nearly five-year partnership with Linn, 67, has had a positive impact on her life.
In an interview with Us Weekly, McEntire revealed she feels “a newfound strength,” explaining, “When you’re secure in your love life and home life, you feel ready to take on the world.”
When asked if this brought about “new possibilities,” she responded, “It seems so. I didn’t see it coming, but everything just fell into place—working together, my touring, everything. Timing is everything, and things happen for a reason.”
She also shared that in her relationship, “We’ve made each other better. Rex brings out the playful side of me. I’m silly, I’m goofy, and so is he. We love to laugh, and we love each other.”
When asked about the key to their relationship, the Voice coach responded, “I have his back, and he has mine. That’s incredibly important. I feel very secure with Rex.”
While McEntire is clearly head over heels for Linn, she shared her thoughts on the possibility of marriage in the near future.
“It doesn’t really matter to me. I’m completely happy with where we are. If Rex ever wants to get married, we’ll discuss it, but I’m content. I love our relationship just as it is, 100 percent.”
The country music star was previously married to her former manager, Narvel Blackstock, but the couple divorced in 2015.
Her first marriage was to cattle rancher Charlie Battles, lasting from 1976 to 1987.
McEntire went on to describe what her relationship with Linn is like both on and off the screen, as the couple also works together on the sitcom Happy’s Place.
“Rex and I are best friends. We share the same likes and dislikes. We’re both foodies and love cooking. We each dreamed of being a cowboy and a cowgirl, but ended up in the entertainment industry instead. Our dynamic just works, both on and off-screen,” McEntire shared.
This isn’t the first time McEntire and Linn have teamed up on a project.
McEntire and Linn first crossed paths on the set of the 1991 film The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw.
The couple also appeared together in popular TV shows like Big Sky and Young Sheldon.
Despite their shared passion for acting, McEntire admitted that they haven’t established any specific rules for working together.
“No, we just love to act. We want to be well-prepared, so we rehearse a lot,” she noted.
“We take rehearsals very seriously, and we definitely know our lines. To have fun and feel comfortable with the dialogue, you need to know it well. We put a lot of effort into that,” she explained.
Regarding their latest project, Happy’s Place, the sitcom centers around Bobbie, portrayed by McEntire, who inherits her father’s restaurant following his passing. The storyline takes a twist when she discovers that she will be managing the restaurant with her business partner Isabella, played by Belissa Escobedo, who turns out to be the younger half-sister she never knew existed.
Linn and Melissa Peterman play roles on the show as the bartender and cook at the restaurant.
McEntire first teamed up with Peterman in the popular sitcom Reba, which aired on The WB and later The CW for six seasons from 2001 to 2007. The show was a significant success, and in addition to its engaging characters, it is well-remembered for its iconic theme song, “I’m a Survivor,” performed by McEntire herself.
