Ozzy Osbourne Delivers Final Live Performance in Star-Studded Farewell Show
Ozzy Osbourne has officially stepped away from the spotlight.
The 76-year-old rock icon took the stage one last time on Saturday, joining his Black Sabbath bandmates—Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, and Bill Ward—for a special farewell concert titled Back to the Beginning in his hometown of Birmingham, England.
The massive 10-hour event, emceed by actor Jason Momoa, featured a stacked lineup including performances by Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Jack Black, Steven Tyler, and more.
A standout moment came when some of rock’s most renowned drummers—Danny Carey from Tool, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Travis Barker from Blink-182—joined forces for an epic drum showdown during a cover of Sabbath’s “Symptom of the Universe.”
Adding to the emotional atmosphere, legendary artists such as Dolly Parton, Elton John, Billy Idol, and Jonathan Davis sent pre-recorded video tributes, thanking Osbourne and his bandmates for decades of musical influence, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Osbourne closed the show in dramatic fashion. As shown in photos and video clips shared on X (formerly Twitter), he was brought onstage seated on a gothic-style black throne adorned with skulls and topped with a black bat. From his seat, he performed classics like “Crazy Train” and “Mama I’m Coming Home.”
“It feels incredible to be back on this stage,” Osbourne told the audience, as reported by Planet Rock Radio. “You can’t imagine how much this means to me. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
Fans took to social media to share their emotional reactions. One user wrote on X: “Only Ozzy Osbourne could be in a chair, shaking from Parkinson’s, dealing with ADHD, and still carry himself with such grace and charisma. A true showman.”
This farewell performance follows Osbourne’s February 2023 announcement that he would no longer be touring due to ongoing health complications.
“I’m truly grateful for how long you’ve held onto your tickets,” he shared in a heartfelt message at the time. “But I’ve had to accept that I’m not physically up to the demands of touring in Europe and the UK. The travel alone is more than I can manage.”
Though he reassured fans that his voice remained strong, Osbourne acknowledged that his body hadn’t fully recovered after several surgeries, stem cell therapies, intensive rehab, and treatment involving a robotic exoskeleton to aid mobility.
Over the years, the metal legend has endured serious health issues, including a near-fatal ATV crash in 2003 and a Parkinson’s diagnosis shortly thereafter.
Speaking on his Sirius XM program Ozzy Speaks alongside co-host Billy Morrison earlier this year, Osbourne admitted he continued to struggle with mobility but was doing his best to stay optimistic.
