Nicole Kidman Says She Spent Much of Her 2025 Hiatus “In Her Shell”
Three months after finalizing her divorce from Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman opened up about her family life and personal journey.
Despite taking a self-imposed break in 2025, the 58-year-old actress is gearing up for a busy year with several high-profile projects set to debut. “I was quiet,” she told Variety. “I had other things going on. I was in my shell.”
Kidman expressed excitement about returning to work, saying, “Now I’m in a place of saying, ‘2026. Here we go.’ I have Practical Magic with Sandy [Bullock]. I’ll be in full witch mode.” She is set to reprise her role as Gillian Owens in the sequel to the beloved ’90s cult classic.
In addition, Kidman is starring this spring as a medical examiner in the adaptation of Scarpetta and is currently filming the third season of Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness.
When asked about her wellbeing following her separation from Urban, Kidman acknowledged that she is managing and focusing on positive steps forward. “I am, because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good,” she said. “What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that.”
She emphasized the importance of privacy and family unity, adding, “Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect. I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
In January, the Academy Award-winning actress finalized her divorce from Urban, ending nearly two decades of marriage.
