The rap icon addressed the United Nations in New York on Tuesday, drawing attention to the killings of Christians in Nigeria.

Nicki Minaj, who has been hailed as the “queen of rap” since her 2010 debut album Pink Friday, has reached a new stage in her career. On Tuesday, the 42-year-old artist addressed the United Nations, speaking out against the persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
During her speech, she expressed gratitude to former President Donald Trump for “making this issue a priority and demonstrating leadership on the global stage by calling for urgent action to protect Christians in Nigeria.”
Minaj has recently become more vocal about the matter, having previously praised the Trump administration for bringing attention to it.
Late last month, the U.S. administration labeled Nigeria a “country of particular concern” due to the widespread killings of Christians there.
Nicki Minaj, known for her bold persona and provocative lyrics, has never shied away from expressing her beliefs. While she previously backed Democrats like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, she has increasingly voiced support for Donald Trump.
In the past, Minaj criticized Trump’s immigration policies, telling Rolling Stone in 2020 that she was disturbed by “children being taken away from their parents,” reflecting her perspective as a Caribbean immigrant. She added, “That’s what made me feel like something about this didn’t sit right in my spirit. But! On Celebrity Apprentice, I thought he was funny as hell.”
Last month, she shared a TikTok from Trump’s granddaughter, Kai Trump, that featured a viral trend using Minaj’s song Beez in the Trap. On Nov. 1, she also posted a screenshot of a Truth Social post by Trump stating, “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria.”
Minaj responded, “Reading this filled me with deep gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever face persecution for practicing their religion.”

No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.

Minaj added, “We don’t need to hold the same beliefs to show respect for one another. Many countries worldwide are facing this kind of suffering, and it’s dangerous to turn a blind eye.”
She also expressed gratitude, saying, “I thank the President and his team for taking this matter seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian, and let’s keep them in our prayers.”
