Nicki Minaj, known for “Super Bass,” said that criticism and negativity will only strengthen her support for the president during the Trump Accounts Summit.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rapper Nicki Minaj is standing firm in her support for President Donald Trump.
Minaj and Trump went viral on Wednesday after photos emerged of the two holding hands at the U.S. Treasury Department during the Trump Accounts Summit. The rapper also referred to herself as Trump’s “number one fan,” a comment that sparked widespread reactions online.
On X, one user wrote, “Not Nicki Minaj holding hands with Donald Trump—her career is so over,” while another added, “Nicki Minaj holding hands with Donald Trump????” accompanied by crying face emojis.
During the summit, Trump brought Minaj onstage to address the audience. In a lighthearted moment, he commented on his nails: “I said I am going to let my nails grow because I love those nails. I am going to let those nails grow.”
Minaj took the opportunity to criticize California Governor Gavin Newsom while praising Trump for his commitment to creating change for Americans. “Oh, no, [Newsom] doesn’t want to make a change, absolutely not,” she told attendees. “He only wants to be seen. He does not aim to do anything credible with his time or life.”
She contrasted Trump with what she called “the average politician,” explaining why she believes he is different. “Most politicians just want to be celebrities. They don’t care if their policies succeed tomorrow or even two minutes from now. They don’t focus on inspiring the next generation—they just want to get into office,” Minaj said. “Trump is a different human being, a different president, a different kind of leader. He’s a businessman and an authentic person. When he says he wants to create something lasting beyond his time in office, he means it.”
Earlier in the event, Minaj joined Trump onstage alongside Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary, receiving applause from the audience. Trump remarked, “We did pretty well with your community.”
Minaj acknowledged that public criticism only strengthens her dedication to the president. “I will say that I am probably the president’s number one fan,” she told the crowd. “That’s not going to change. The hate or what people have to say doesn’t affect me—it actually motivates me to support him even more. And it’s going to motivate all of us to support him further. We’re not going to let them bully him or push smear campaigns. It’s not going to work. He has a lot of force behind him, and God is protecting him. Amen.”
O’Leary also addressed the audience, praising Trump on behalf of U.S. entrepreneurs. “On behalf of all the entrepreneurs in America, I’d like to thank you, Mr. President. We create 72% of the jobs at companies with 5 to 500 employees, and all we care about is policy. We love pro-business policy, and these accounts are fantastic for independence and support. Thank you very much.”
During the summit, Trump officially launched Trump accounts, part of his proposed tax legislation. The accounts are designed to provide $1,000 for each child born between 2025 and 2028, provided their parents open an account. The funds will be invested in the stock market by private firms, and the child will have access to the money upon turning 18.
