The 81-year-old Rolling Stones frontman and the ex-ballerina, who started their relationship in 2014, have a son together.

Melanie Hamrick, longtime partner of Mick Jagger, has quietly been engaged to the iconic Rolling Stones frontman for several years.
In a recent interview with Paris Match, the 37-year-old former ballerina shared that she and the 81-year-old rock legend have been engaged for “two or three years,” according to an English translation of the feature published Wednesday.
Despite the engagement, Hamrick expressed uncertainty about whether they’ll ever officially wed. “Maybe we’ll get married one day, maybe not,” she said. “We’re so content with how things are that I’d be nervous about changing anything.” Hamrick, who authored First Position, emphasized that their current life together brings her happiness.
Jagger and Hamrick began dating in 2014, and in 2016, they welcomed their son, Deveraux “Devi” Octavian Basil Jagger. The child is Hamrick’s first and Jagger’s eighth, born from his fifth relationship.
Reflecting on what keeps their relationship strong, Hamrick shared, “We try to support one another, be present, and make sure everyone’s happy—that’s what matters most to me.”
Speculation about their engagement began in June 2023, when Hamrick was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her left ring finger. In an interview with People magazine at the time, she confirmed the ring was a gift from Jagger but brushed off the idea of it being a formal engagement ring. “Yes, Mick gave me the ring. Yes, it’s on that finger,” she said with a laugh. “But we’re not acting like giddy teenagers. I think of it as a promise ring.”
When asked about her views on marriage, Hamrick said, “I’m not sure. I tend to live in the moment, so anything could happen.”
Jagger, a four-time Grammy winner, has been married once before—to Bianca Jagger in 1971. They divorced in 1978 and share a daughter, Jade. His other children include Karis (with Marsha Hunt), Elizabeth, James, Georgia, and Gabriel (with Jerry Hall), and Lucas (with Luciana Gimenez Morad).
Hamrick and Jagger met in February 2014 backstage at a Rolling Stones show in Tokyo. At the time, Hamrick was also in Japan performing with the American Ballet Theatre. She recalled to Paris Match that while there was some initial chemistry, they didn’t exchange contact information. “Maybe a spark, but nothing dramatic,” she said. “He had a partner then—I didn’t.”
A month after that initial meeting, Jagger’s longtime girlfriend, designer L’Wren Scott, tragically died by suicide. Jagger publicly mourned her loss, writing about his heartbreak and confusion.
It wasn’t until five months later that Hamrick and Jagger reconnected. A mutual friend passed along her number, and Jagger invited her out for coffee. They met again in Zurich, and from there, their relationship began.
