Keith Urban Cancels South Carolina Concert Amid Illness
Keith Urban was forced to call off his South Carolina concert as he continues to recover from a mild illness.
The 57-year-old country superstar had been slated to take the stage Thursday evening at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville as part of his High and Alive tour, but the show was canceled just before it was set to begin.
According to a statement posted on the venue’s website, Urban’s longtime throat specialist, Dr. Gaelyn Garrett of the Vanderbilt Voice Center, advised him to cancel the performance after he developed laryngitis earlier in the week. The statement noted that he has been placed on full vocal rest, but Dr. Garrett remains optimistic that Urban will be ready to perform at his upcoming Nashville concert.
The announcement also featured a personal apology from the musician.
“Hey Greenville, I’m so, so sorry to have to cancel tonight’s show,” Urban shared. “I know the effort it takes for everyone to get to a concert these days, and I never take that for granted — not for a second. I can’t wait to make it up to you all as soon as I can!”
The cancellation comes only a few weeks after Urban and his estranged wife, actress Nicole Kidman, filed for divorce following nearly two decades of marriage.
Reports of their split surfaced on September 29, and court filings obtained by Fox News Digital show that Kidman cited “irreconcilable differences” and “marital difficulties” as reasons for ending the relationship. The documents list September 30 as their official date of separation.
A source told People magazine that Kidman’s sister, Antonia, and the rest of the Kidman family have been a strong support system throughout the breakup.
“Nicole didn’t want this,” the insider revealed. “She really tried to save the marriage.”
In a recent Harper’s Bazaar interview published on October 9, Kidman spoke about how she navigates challenging periods in her life. While she didn’t mention Urban by name, she reflected on how time and experience have helped her cope with pain and loss.
“The best thing about getting older is the experience you’ve gathered,” she said. “At a certain point, you can look at something and think, ‘I’ve been through this before — I know how to get through it.’ No matter how painful or devastating a situation feels, there’s always a way forward. You have to let yourself feel it — it’ll hurt, it might even feel unbearable — but if you move slowly and gently, it does pass.”
