Security escorted a man offstage after he approached and grabbed the singer during her performance of “Hot N Cold.”
Katy Perry’s concert took an unexpected turn when a fan made his way onto the stage during her performance in Sydney.
The man was arrested and charged after confronting the pop star during the Australian stop of her Lifetimes Tour. Authorities confirmed to Fox News Digital that the incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. on Monday, June 9, when the man suddenly climbed onto the stage and was quickly intercepted by security personnel.
According to a statement from the Burwood Police Area Command, the individual was taken into custody and transported to Auburn Police Station, where he was formally charged with two offenses: unlawfully entering restricted premises and obstructing someone in the course of their duties.
The man has been granted conditional bail and is set to appear in Burwood Local Court on June 23, 2025. He also received a six-month ban from the Sydney Olympic Park area.
Fan-captured footage from the event shows the man running toward Perry just as she was about to remove her microphone from the stand during her performance of “Hot N Cold.” He grabbed her shoulder, prompting the singer to react with a startled yelp before dodging his advance.
Despite the interruption, Perry continued performing while the man briefly danced onstage. Two security guards quickly pursued him, with additional staff ensuring his removal from the venue.
Acknowledging the bizarre moment, Perry addressed the crowd by saying, “Well, there’s never going to be another show like this. So just enjoy it, Sydney,” followed by an exclamation: “What the hell is going on?”
Fans responded strongly online, with one attendee commenting, “I was there and she handled it so well, but it must’ve been terrifying. What if he had bad intentions? Security was too slow.”
Others echoed similar concerns, criticizing the delay in the security team’s response.
