The pop superstar and the former Canadian prime minister were recently seen sharing a kiss aboard her yacht, following reports that Trudeau has been romantically pursuing her since their dinner together in July.
From red carpets to secret getaways, Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau’s rumored romance continues to draw attention. After being spotted showing affection aboard the pop star’s yacht last week, Perry — who’s currently performing the international leg of her Lifetimes Tour — and the former Canadian prime minister have become one of the most unexpected pairings of 2025.
During her performance at London’s O2 Arena on Monday, Perry appeared to subtly acknowledge her new relationship with Trudeau, slipping in a playful comment that also nodded to her British ex, actor Orlando Bloom.
“London, England — you’re this lively on a Monday night after work and school?” she teased the crowd, as reported by The Sun.
“No wonder I used to fall for Englishmen… but not anymore,” she added with a laugh.
According to the outlet, Perry also jokingly turned down a fan’s surprise marriage proposal during the show, quipping, “I wish you’d asked me 48 hours ago.”
The pair first made headlines in July, when they were seen dining together at Montréal’s upscale restaurant Le Violon, according to footage shared by TMZ.
Witnesses said the two enjoyed cocktails and shared several plates — including one featuring lobster — while being quietly monitored by security. After their meal, they reportedly stepped into the kitchen to personally thank the staff.
A source later told The Sun that Trudeau “has been single for some time and really enjoys her company.”
“He’s drawn to her energy and finds their conversations refreshing,” the insider said. “He likes that she treats him like a regular person and appreciates how understanding he’s been about her recent split from Orlando Bloom.”
Just days later, Trudeau attended Perry’s sold-out show at Montréal’s Bell Centre with his daughter, Ella-Grace, 16. Fans captured the former prime minister smiling and singing along to Perry’s hit ‘Dark Horse’ during the performance.
“He looks genuinely happier than he’s been in ages,” one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter). Another joked, “World leader by day, teenage dreamer by night.”
By August, People reported that while the pair were clearly intrigued by each other, both were taking things slowly given their recent breakups and demanding schedules.
Perry and Bloom ended their decade-long relationship in July, while Trudeau separated from his wife of 18 years, Sophie Grégoire, in 2023.
“They’re both interested, but they know it will take time,” a source explained. “She’s touring the world, and he’s adjusting to life after politics. But the chemistry is there, and they share a lot of common ground.”
The insider added that, despite the challenges of distance and parenting, they’re making an effort to stay connected. “They can’t always be in the same place, but they’re constantly communicating — FaceTiming and messaging whenever possible.”
Last week, the couple was seen enjoying the California sun aboard Perry’s yacht, the Caravelle, near Santa Barbara. In one photo, Trudeau is seen kissing Perry on the cheek and wrapping her in an embrace; in another, Perry, wearing a dark swimsuit, leans into him as he rests a hand on her lower back.
