Katy Perry and her boyfriend, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, stepped into the spotlight together for their first high-profile public appearance as a couple.
On Tuesday, the 41-year-old pop superstar accompanied the 54-year-old politician to Davos, Switzerland, where Trudeau delivered a keynote address at the Global Soft Power Summit, a Brand Finance event held alongside the World Economic Forum.
Perry appeared in a coordinated tan ensemble, wearing a button-down cardigan with balloon sleeves paired with a pencil skirt. She completed her look with geometric gold earrings and a sleek bun. Trudeau, meanwhile, chose a navy suit with a light blue shirt and a blue-and-white patterned tie.
The couple was seen smiling and holding hands, with Perry also taking a front-row seat to watch Trudeau’s speech.
During his remarks, Trudeau discussed the concept of “soft power”—the influence nations wield through diplomacy, shared values, and collaboration rather than military or coercive means.
“The 80 years of stability and prosperity that followed the horrors of World War Two is over,” he said, according to CBC. “That era is done. We are now in a transition period, shaping the new world we live in.”
Trudeau warned that some global leaders increasingly rely on “hard power” tactics to serve national interests, and stressed that countries should prioritize soft power to navigate today’s international challenges.
He also shared a personal anecdote to illustrate the idea, referencing a recent “date with an American girl to a rooftop bar in Montreal,” during which she ordered a Jack and Coke. Trudeau recalled that the server informed her that American alcohol was unavailable not just at that bar, but likely across the entire city—and perhaps the country—demonstrating Canadians supporting one another in times of stress, an example of soft power.
While Trudeau did not name the woman, he and Perry were first seen together in Montreal last July, dining at the upscale restaurant Le Violon before heading to the rooftop bar Taverne Atlantic, according to TMZ.
The couple made their public debut in October 2025, holding hands outside the Crazy Horse cabaret club in Paris after attending a birthday celebration for Perry. Their relationship became Instagram official in December 2025, when Perry shared a slideshow of their Japan trip, featuring photos of them smiling cheek to cheek, silhouetted in dimly lit rooms with blue lights, and enjoying sushi together.
Perry’s romance with Trudeau follows her split from former fiancé Orlando Bloom in July. The former couple, who share a daughter, Daisy, 5, had been together for nearly a decade. Trudeau finalized his separation from Sophie Grégoire, his wife of 18 years, in 2023.
