Shockwaves Hit Late-Night as Stephen Colbert Announces The Late Show Is Ending
The late-night landscape was shaken on Thursday, July 17, as Stephen Colbert revealed that The Late Show will come to an end after 10 seasons. The announcement, made during a taping, caught both fans and viewers off guard — and Colbert himself admitted he was blindsided.
“I only found out last night,” the 61-year-old host told his audience. “Next year will be our final season. CBS is wrapping up The Late Show in May.” The crowd immediately reacted with boos, echoing Colbert’s own dismay.
In response to the news, fellow late-night host Jimmy Kimmel didn’t hold back, taking a jab at the network with a pointed comment: “F— you and all your Sheldons, CBS.”
Jimmy Fallon, host of NBC’s The Tonight Show, also expressed disappointment via Instagram Stories. “Like everyone else, I’m shocked,” he wrote. “Stephen is one of the sharpest and funniest people in the game.
