The country singer shares that he hiked a mountain in Arizona as part of his ongoing weight loss journey.

Jelly Roll is steadily working toward his fitness goals.

During a pre-Super Bowl event, the 40-year-old country singer told E! News that he recently accomplished something he couldn’t have imagined before starting his weight loss journey—hiking a mountain.

“I hiked a mountain the other day. Camelback,” he said, referencing the well-known peak in Arizona. “There is no way that would have been possible beforehand, so it’s great to see that progress, and we still are going.”

Although the Save Me singer has been candid about his struggles, including his weight, he acknowledged that staying positive isn’t always easy.

“It isn’t always the case where I feel focused or positive,” he told the outlet. “What keeps me going are the people I’ve met along the way… Those who come up to me and courageously share their sobriety date, their personal battles, or stories of loved ones they’ve lost.”

He continued, “Seeing the resilience of the human spirit—there’s no greater motivation to keep going.”

Back in November, Jelly Roll revealed in an interview with Pat McAfee that he had lost around 120 pounds. While on tour, he stayed active by playing basketball and going for walks. He also brought a nutritionist along to support his journey.

In December, during an episode of his wife Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast, he shared more about why he chooses to be so open with his fans.

“I chose to do this publicly for a reason,” he explained. “I want to be open about my struggles so others can relate. I carried this for so long.”

Jelly Roll went on to say, “I think when people reach the size I did, they often feel ashamed when they start losing weight. They tend to withdraw, focusing on their transformation in private, and then reemerge struggling to navigate the world with their new appearance and mindset. It’s like they have to rediscover themselves all over again.”
