Country artist Jelly Roll steered clear of politics and expressed his faith in Jesus while accepting his Grammy award.

Jelly Roll is a self-proclaimed man of God, and he made that clear while accepting his Grammy on Sunday.
The country artist, known for hits like “Son of a Sinner,” honored both Jesus and his wife, Bunnie XO, while receiving the Best Contemporary Country Album award for his Beautifully Broken collection.
His heartfelt speech stood out amid a ceremony filled with politically charged addresses. Backstage at the Crypto.com Arena, Jelly Roll explained why he steered clear of commenting on national issues.
When asked whether he wanted to weigh in on current events, the “Wild Ones” singer admitted, “Not really.” He elaborated, saying he feels people often don’t need his opinion. “I’m a dumb redneck,” he joked. “I haven’t watched enough… I didn’t even have a phone for 18 months.”
Jelly Roll reflected on his disconnected upbringing, explaining that growing up in a chaotic household kept him removed from the news and politics. “I grew up in a house of insane pandemonium. I didn’t even know politics were real until I was in my mid-20s in jail,” he said. “When you grow up in a drug-addict household, you’re just trying to survive, man.”
Despite his limited exposure to politics, he revealed that he still has strong opinions. “I’m going through it next week, and everybody’s going to hear exactly what I have to say in the clearest, loudest way I’ve ever spoken in my life,” he told reporters.
Jelly Roll’s representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Onstage at the Grammys, the singer kept the focus on faith rather than politics. “Jesus is not owned by any political party,” he told the audience. He also shared a deeply personal message about his wife’s support and how his faith helped him overcome struggles.
“First of all, Jesus, I hear you, and I’m listening,” he said. “Second, I want to thank my beautiful wife. I would have ended up dead or in jail. I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus. I thank you for that.”
He also credited a small Bible and a jailhouse radio with helping him turn his life around. “I believe music and God had the power to change my life. And I want to tell y’all right now: Jesus is for everybody,” he said.
