Jelly Roll and his wife, Bunnie Xo, continue to lean on faith as they work toward growing their family.
In a heartfelt discussion with Maury Povich on her Dumb Blonde podcast, Bunnie — whose real name is Alisa DeFord — opened up about her ongoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) journey and her deep desire to become a mother.
“It’s been really hard,” said the 40-year-old. “But at the same time, you just give it to God. If it’s meant to happen, it will. And if not, adoption is absolutely something we’re open to — both me and my husband.”
Povich, 85, shared that he could relate to her experience, recalling the fertility challenges he and his wife, Connie Chung, faced decades ago.
“My wife and I went through the same kind of thing you and Jelly Roll are going through,” he said. “We tried for years to get pregnant — this was over 30 years ago. Connie even had to take time off from CBS, and it became a huge story at the time.”
Eventually, the longtime couple chose adoption after realizing conceiving wasn’t possible. “That was the best decision I could’ve made,” Povich reflected.
Over the past year, Bunnie has been transparent about her fertility journey, sharing honest and emotional moments with her followers — from setbacks to small triumphs.
In June, she celebrated what she called a “major victory,” posting a tearful Instagram video after receiving long-awaited news from her doctor.
“When you finally get the call you’ve been waiting on for five months since starting this IVF journey,” she captioned the emotional clip. “After all the tears, the hopelessness, and the struggle, God finally said, ‘Here.’”
Bunnie made sure to clarify she wasn’t announcing a pregnancy just yet, writing, “This isn’t a pregnancy announcement — we won’t be doing that. This is simply a huge win for us.”
