Gwen Stefani is thoroughly enjoying her relaxed country life in Oklahoma.
The 53-year-old pop singer, who has been married to country star and Oklahoma native Blake Shelton since 2021, recently shared with People her experiences and adaptation to the more rural lifestyle on their ranch.
“I’m not really someone who’s into dirt or bugs, and I don’t particularly enjoy high humidity,” Stefani admitted to the publication. “But the beauty of Oklahoma is undeniable, and you sort of feel like you’re entering this unique realm. Nature, and a sense of spirituality, are right there.”
The mother of three also shared that she never anticipated living this type of lifestyle. “When I was young, I’d walk home from school and see my mom in her shorts doing gardening, and my dad would be trimming trees and making me pick up branches. I used to think, ‘I’m never going to have a tree at my house,'” she reminisced.
Now, Stefani described herself as a “garden flower enthusiast” and remarked, “When we’re in Oklahoma, we’re constantly working, but it’s a different kind of work. It’s probably what my mom used to do back in the day, and now I understand it!”
Stefani continued to reflect on how she never anticipated ending up with Blake Shelton. The couple first crossed paths while co-hosting the reality competition show, “The Voice,” back in 2014.
“I never saw any of this coming with Blake. It was a huge surprise. Experiencing love like that for the first time was an incredible gift,” she shared with People. “He has transformed my life… When I began dating Blake, that’s when I felt like I was truly at home, like, ‘Oh, this is where I’m meant to be, with this guy.'”
Stefani had previously been married to musician Gavin Rossdale, who is the father of her three sons. During the interview while promoting her new makeup brand, she also touched upon the challenging end of their marriage.
“Most people are aware that there was a time when my life completely unraveled. It was a terrible period, and many others have experienced similar hardships. When that happened, I had to essentially start anew. It was a complete reset of my life,” Stefani shared.
Despite the occasional chaos and busyness of life, Stefani attributes her faith for providing her with a sense of grounding. “For me, the only way I’ve been able to come this far is through my spiritual faith and taking moments to pray. I’ve witnessed miracles, and that serves as both inspiration and the fuel that keeps me going.”
