Kaylee Hottle, the deaf actress best known for portraying Jia in the Godzilla film franchise, has died at the age of 18, Fox News Digital has confirmed.
According to reports, Hottle was killed in a car accident on Tuesday morning. TMZ reported that her father, Joshua Hottle, shared the news during a livestream conducted in American Sign Language. He said he traveled from Texas to Maryland to retrieve his daughter’s body after learning of the crash. Authorities later informed him that her heart had stopped while she was being transported to the hospital.
Before making her feature film debut, Hottle appeared in commercials and participated in advocacy campaigns that promoted awareness of the deaf community.
Born in Virginia into a multigenerational deaf family, she became a promising young actress while also championing greater inclusion and representation for deaf performers in the entertainment industry.
Hottle made her big-screen debut as Jia in 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong.
