Dolly Parton is urging Indiana Governor Mike Braun to rethink his decision to cut funding for her Imagination Library initiative, which supports young children.
“We remain hopeful that Governor Braun and the Indiana Legislature will renew their commitment to this important cause by reinstating the state’s funding match for local Imagination Library programs,” said Jeff Conyers, Vice Chair and President of the Dollywood Foundation, as reported by Rolling Stone.
“The magic of the Imagination Library is its ability to bring people together—beyond politics—because every child deserves the opportunity to dream big and achieve success.”
The statement continued, emphasizing that Indiana’s leaders have a chance during this legislative session to reaffirm their support for the Imagination Library partnership and invest in the future of the state’s youngest children.
The statement concluded by expressing their commitment to collaborating with key decision-makers to ensure that every child in Indiana, regardless of location, can continue receiving free books each month—offering endless opportunities for their future.
The initiative is funded through a collaboration between Parton and local community partners across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland.
