Darius Rucker’s fiancée revealed that she edited him out of all her photos in order to keep their relationship private.
Darius Rucker has officially announced his engagement after keeping his love life out of the public eye.
The 59-year-old “Wagon Wheel” singer revealed on Wednesday through a joint Instagram post that he is engaged to Emily Deahl.
“Thank you for bringing me a kind of happiness I’ve never experienced before,” Rucker captioned the post. “From the moment I met you, I knew I didn’t want to spend another day without you — and now I don’t have to.”
The black-and-white photo accompanying the post shows Rucker down on one knee behind Deahl, who smiles brightly as she looks at him. The couple appears casually dressed, with Deahl wearing a black sweater and her hair tied back in a ponytail.
Fans flooded the comments with congratulations, celebrating the couple’s happy news. One wrote, “So wonderful to see two people find happiness — that’s rare these days. Congratulations!” Another added, “So thrilled for both of you ❤️,” while a third commented, “Wishing you both all the love and joy — there’s nothing like finding the one who truly stands by you! 🥂❤️.”
“I never meant to keep this part of my life hidden from everyone for so long,” she shared on her Instagram Story. “But as I fell in love with him, I realized how precious love truly is to me — and I just wanted to protect it.” She added jokingly, “I’m so relieved I don’t have to keep editing him out of every picture anymore.”
Deahl also marked the engagement with more posts on her Instagram Stories, publicly acknowledging her relationship with the former Hootie & the Blowfish lead singer for the first time.
Rucker only recently gave fans a glimpse into his love life when he shared a selfie with Deahl from Las Vegas, captioning it, “Wizard of Oz at @spherevegas with my love & my boys. 1000/10!!!!!”
Before his engagement to Deahl, the country star was married to Beth Leonard for nearly two decades, from 2000 until their 2020 divorce. During their marriage, they welcomed two children — daughter Daniella, 24, and son Jack, 20. Rucker also has an older daughter, Carolyn, 30, from his previous relationship with Elizabeth Ann Phillips.
After the separation, Rucker opened up to People in October 2023, admitting that although the breakup came with challenges, he and Leonard have remained “close friends and co-parents.”
