Megan Moroney is putting her love life on hold as she focuses on herself and her growing music career.
The country singer recently revealed that past relationships have overshadowed some of the happiest milestones in her career, prompting her to step away from dating for the time being. Instead, she’s prioritizing touring, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying life with her dog.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Moroney said this is the first major tour where she hasn’t been in a relationship, and the experience has allowed her to stay completely focused.
“It’s actually been really refreshing because I don’t have any distractions,” she said. “Looking back, there were several exciting moments in my career that ended up being tainted because of a relationship. Having a clear mind has made a huge difference.”
The 28-year-old Georgia native explained that the break has also helped her better understand herself, her personal priorities, and the habits that allow her to perform at her best.
She said maintaining consistent routines has shown her what she’s capable of when everything in her life feels balanced and on track.
Although she’s not interested in dating right now, Moroney made it clear she isn’t giving up on romance forever. Once her tour concludes in October and she returns from Europe, she joked that she may be ready to start looking for someone again, adding that the arrival of “cuffing season” could change her outlook.
For now, however, she’s enjoying the calm that comes with keeping her personal life uncomplicated. Having loved ones by her side—and adopting a dog earlier this year—has brought her the kind of happiness she was searching for.

Referring to her song “Who Hurt You,” Moroney said she intentionally made its inspiration easy for listeners to identify. She explained that she once found constant questions about her songs frustrating, but now sees it as part of the fun. According to the singer, songwriting is meant to entertain and express emotions, not be analyzed too seriously.
