Concert Aims to Provide Relief for Farming Communities Facing Hardship Across the U.S.
Luke Bryan is deepening his connection to farming in a big way.
The country superstar has launched the fall leg of his annual Farm Tour — a series of concerts hosted on farms across the nation — and explained in a recent interview that the tour is more than live music. For Bryan, it’s a tribute to his agricultural roots and a show of support for farming communities that continue to face hardships.
Bryan, who maintains a farm outside of Nashville, grew up in Georgia, where his father ran a peanut farm. That upbringing left him with a lasting admiration for farmers. “When I was young, the people driving tractors and big trucks were my heroes,” he recalled on the Today show.
Inspired by that respect, Bryan launched his Farm Tour 16 years ago, bringing his shows directly to rural areas. What started as a passion project has since grown into events that draw crowds of 10,000 to 20,000 people, blending his love of music with his dedication to agriculture.
Beyond the concerts, Bryan’s tour has also had a meaningful impact on the farming community. Over the years, it has funded more than 80 scholarships for students from farming families.
This year’s tour stopped in Brooklyn, Wisconsin, where Kevin and Erica Klon welcomed Bryan and his fans to their Klondike Farm. The couple also appeared on the Today show, reflecting on the challenges farmers face. “We’re losing them, slowly but surely,” Erica said of America’s farming population.
Kevin emphasized how much Bryan’s efforts mean to them and their community: “The fact that Luke is supporting … he’s very generous with the youth and the nation. It’s just extra special that it’s at our place.”
Along with putting on concerts, Bryan is determined to uplift farming communities and hopes his efforts will help strengthen the agricultural industry nationwide.
“We’ve worked hard to make sure it feels that way,” he said.
For the first time, Bryan brought his Farm Tour to California this past spring. The fall run began Thursday in Brooklyn, Wisconsin, with upcoming shows scheduled in Prairie Grove, Illinois, and Lansing, Michigan, over the weekend.
