Jelly Roll has hit a major milestone in his weight-loss journey, announcing he’s shed 200 pounds and is aiming to drop 50 more.

The 40-year-old country star shared the news during a surprise motivational talk with the Tennessee Titans earlier this week, a moment captured in a video posted on X by the team. A Nashville native and lifelong Titans supporter, Jelly Roll was invited by head coach Brian Callahan to speak to players during training camp ahead of their preseason schedule.

“I can’t get on the field,” he joked to the team, “but I’m getting close. I lost 200 pounds. I told Coach I’m getting a contract if I lose another 50.” His comments were met with cheers from players and staff.

Jelly Roll has been open about his health transformation since beginning his journey in December 2022. Back in April, he revealed during Pat McAfee’s “Big Night AHT” event that he had already dropped 183 pounds. “I started at 540 pounds. I’m 357 pounds this morning, baby,” he told the crowd.

In May, speaking with Fox News Digital at the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards, he admitted his biggest challenge wasn’t the gym — it was his relationship with food.

“If you’re really battling obesity, you’ve got to start at the dinner table,” he explained. “The walking’s great, all the other stuff’s great, but you’ve got to fight that addiction at the dinner table.”

Jelly Roll has remained committed to his weight-loss journey, openly acknowledging that his struggle with food mirrored his past battles with drug addiction. The singer has long been transparent about his history with substance abuse and says food became his next big hurdle.

“The battle was with the food addiction — changing how I’ve thought about food for nearly four decades,” he told People in 2024. “I’ve never had a healthy relationship with it, so that was the hard part. But once I committed and stayed disciplined, it snowballed. Once that little snowball started rolling, it turned into an avalanche.”

In October 2024, the “Son of a Sinner” artist hit a major milestone, which his trainer celebrated in a video shared on Instagram. “We just passed the halfway point of the tour, and Jelly’s been crushing it,” his trainer said, noting that his routine included walking around arenas, playing basketball, and boxing. At that point, Jelly had officially dropped over 100 pounds.

By December, he opened up on Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast about why he chose to share his progress with the public. “I did this publicly for a reason,” he explained. “I wanted to be honest about my struggles. I wore it for so long.”

He added that many people who lose a significant amount of weight choose to do so privately, only re-emerging when the transformation is complete — something he didn’t want to do. “When you get as big as I did, and you lose the weight, you can feel ashamed,” he said. “You hide away, and then when you come back out, you’re trying to figure out how to interact with the world again, looking and feeling so different. You’ve got to find your new way.”
