Superstar Cher is facing allegations made by her daughter-in-law, Marie King, who claims that the singer was involved in the abduction of her troubled son, Elijah Blue Allman. These allegations have come to light in legal documents related to King’s ongoing divorce proceedings with Allman.
The accusations, which date back to last year, have recently emerged in legal filings and were obtained by People magazine. According to these documents, King asserted that on the night of the estranged couple’s wedding anniversary, the renowned 77-year-old singer and actress allegedly arranged for a group of individuals to remove her son from the New York hotel room he shared with King on November 30, 2022, out of concern for his well-being.
In the court documents, King stated that she and Elijah were in the process of trying to “reconcile” their relationship after spending “12 days alone together from November 18 to November 30” in New York, during which they were actively working on their marriage. It was during this period that the alleged incident occurred.
Marie King, Cher’s daughter-in-law, also asserted in the legal filings that “one of the four men who took [Allman]” purportedly informed her that they had been hired by Elijah’s mother, as reported by the Daily Mail.

In the documents filed at that time, Marie King expressed her uncertainty regarding her husband’s well-being and whereabouts, stating, “I am currently unaware of my husband’s wellbeing or whereabouts.” She further conveyed her deep concern and worry for his condition.
She also emphasized her understanding of his family’s efforts to ensure his well-being, acknowledging, “I understand his family’s efforts to make sure he is well, and I want what is best for my husband.”
Marie King also allegedly accused her mother-in-law of requesting that she vacate her shared residence with Elijah, leaving behind her belongings, while he was reportedly receiving medical care at an undisclosed facility in August 2022. The details of this facility were not disclosed to King, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Elijah Blue Allman is one of Cher’s two children, born during her marriage to the late rock legend Gregg Allman.
Elijah and Marie King were married in 2013, but they did not have children together. Allman had previously stated that the couple separated in 2020.
In a 2014 interview, Cher’s son, Elijah Blue Allman, candidly discussed his battle with drug addiction, including substances like heroin. He revealed that he finally achieved sobriety in 2008, as reported by Entertainment Tonight.
Allman mentioned that he began using drugs like marijuana and ecstasy at the age of 11, stating, “I mean it’s just what you did, it’s just what everybody did.” He explained that he turned to drugs like heroin and opiates to escape his past and described how heroin, in particular, played a role in his life, saying, “[Heroin] kind of saved me … If I didn’t have that at that point, I don’t know what I would have done … You may jump off a bridge. If you can only just go through that time period and live through it and then get help.”
However, he also admitted to having close calls and moments where he felt he was on the brink of death due to drug overdoses. Allman noted that while he tried to be cautious, such experiences were unpredictable, emphasizing the inherent risks associated with drug use.
