Seventeen years ago, Randy Travis inducted Carrie Underwood into the Grand Ole Opry.

Carrie Underwood delivered a heartfelt performance at the Grand Ole Opry’s 100th anniversary celebration on Wednesday night.

During the event, titled “Opry 100: A Live Celebration,” Underwood paid tribute to Randy Travis, who had inducted her as a Grand Ole Opry member 17 years ago in 2008.

Before starting her performance, Underwood shared a childhood memory, recalling how her sister owned a Randy Travis cassette tape. Once she got hold of it, she admitted she “never” returned it.

Five years after Randy Travis suffered a stroke that left him nearly unable to sing, Carrie Underwood honored him with a powerful tribute at the Grand Ole Opry’s 100th anniversary celebration.

Underwood performed Travis’ beloved hits “Three Wooden Crosses” and “Forever and Ever, Amen.”

As she reached the end of “Forever and Ever, Amen,” Underwood walked over to Travis in the audience and handed him the microphone to deliver the final “Amen.” The emotional moment moved the crowd to tears.

“Randy Travis, everybody,” Underwood said before embracing the country music icon. The audience immediately rose to their feet, giving both artists a heartfelt standing ovation.

Fans quickly took to social media to share their reactions. One user on X posted a clip of the touching moment, writing, “IM NOT CRYING YOU ARE.”

“We’ll never forget the moment Randy invited Carrie into the family,” the Grand Ole Opry account shared, accompanied by a photo from her 2008 induction.

Carrie Underwood first rose to fame after winning American Idol in 2005. That same year, she released her debut album, Some Hearts, featuring the smash hit “Before He Cheats.”

The special event, “Opry 100: A Live Celebration,” was hosted by country star Blake Shelton on March 19 and aired on NBC.
