The country singer posted a makeup tutorial video, recounting how an accident with a glass bottle resulted in her needing stitches.
Carly Pearce will be steering clear of ranch dressing for the foreseeable future — and for good reason.
The 35-year-old country singer recently shared a lighthearted “get ready with me” video on TikTok, where she was seen applying makeup with her right thumb wrapped in a bandage. In the clip, Pearce revealed she injured herself in an unusual way: opening a glass bottle of ranch. She even joked in the caption, “brb avoiding all ranch!!”
Pearce explained that after a show the previous night, she went to open the bottle and the top snapped off, slicing her thumb. At first, her fiddle player and assistant assumed the cut wasn’t serious — until she noticed what she thought was ketchup on her hand was actually blood.
Fortunately, a few paramedics happened to be at the venue and were able to examine her injury, ensure there was no glass inside, and determine she needed stitches. They arranged transport to the hospital, which Pearce humorously recounted involved being strapped into a stretcher for an ambulance ride.
At the ER, an X-ray confirmed there was no glass in the wound, but doctors did need to stitch the cut. Because the stitches are positioned on the crease of her thumb, Pearce has had to adjust her daily routine — joking that her assistant nearly had to help her shave her left armpit.
Pearce is grateful the injury wasn’t worse and expects to heal within a week. She even mused about decorating her bandage for upcoming shows. “Moral of the story,” she said, “be careful when you’re opening things — and don’t go at it like a bull in a china shop, like my mom says I do.”
Fans flooded the comments with playful remarks, calling it “the most Carly thing ever” and teasing that it’s yet another reason to dislike ranch dressing.
Pearce’s schedule remains packed, with performances in Costa Mesa, California, on Thursday and an appearance at the ACM Honors in Tennessee later this month. Earlier this year, she wrapped her Hummingbird world tour and returned to the Stagecoach main stage for the first time in nearly a decade.
Pearce told People in March that she’d long hoped to make her way back to Stagecoach, remembering her two modest performances there in 2018 when “Every Little Thing” was her sole release. She shared that the festival’s charm — from its vibrant fashion scene to its eclectic nightly music lineups and the opportunity to perform alongside artists she loves — is what she’s missed most over the past eight years.
