Boy George has parted ways with his record label and withdrawn from the London production of Jesus Christ Superstar shortly after unveiling his AI-generated pro-Israel song, “We Will Dance Again.”
The 65-year-old singer said his Buddhist beliefs have helped him remain steadfast despite criticism surrounding the reggae-inspired track, which supports Israel’s military actions. As backlash grew, George claimed that some people encouraged him to stay quiet, but he chose not to back down.
In a post on X, George wrote that Buddhism teaches every decision has consequences. He said his support for his Jewish friends has resulted in losing relationships with some people, but he accepted that outcome.
George also announced that he had ended his professional relationship with Tony Pontius, who had overseen his BGP record label for several years. According to the singer, the split occurred after Pontius refused to release “We Will Dance Again,” saying he wanted no involvement with the project. George responded by ending their business partnership, adding that he had no regrets and remained confident that the song would eventually be released.
Representatives for the artist did not immediately comment on the situation when contacted by Fox News Digital.
A three-minute preview of the track, shared on X with the hashtag #Shalom, has attracted more than five million views. Although the song has not been released on streaming platforms, its lyrics defend Israel’s military response while criticizing what George describes as selective public outrage and online-driven narratives.
George’s management also confirmed that he has withdrawn from the upcoming West End production of Jesus Christ Superstar. He had been scheduled to portray King Herod, with performances originally set to begin on Aug. 3.
