Sony Dates 24 Jump Street and Hugh Jackman’s Treasure Island for 2027
By Claire Whitman

Sony has set theatrical release dates for two upcoming films with familiar names attached. According to Variety, the studio has scheduled Treasure Island for November 11, 2027, and 24 Jump Street for December 10, 2027.
The report was published by Variety on October 1, 2026. For moviegoers, the key point is simple: Sony is now giving both projects firm places on the calendar, putting them in position for theatrical runs late in 2027.
Hugh Jackman’s Treasure Island moves ahead
The new Treasure Island adaptation will star Hugh Jackman, according to Variety. Ridley Scott is set to direct the film, with Jack Thorne writing the screenplay.
That lineup gives the project several notable names before audiences have seen a frame of footage. Jackman’s involvement places a major star at the center of the adaptation, while Scott’s role as director gives the film a clearly identified creative lead.
Sony’s date of November 11, 2027, also gives the film a defined target after being known as a developing project. Release dates can shift in Hollywood, but for now, this is the date Sony has placed on the theatrical schedule.
24 Jump Street gets a December date
Sony has also dated 24 Jump Street for December 10, 2027, according to Variety. Rodney Rothman will direct the film.
Rothman also co-wrote the script with Jonah Hill and Meghan Malloy, Variety reported. That puts Hill’s name on the writing side of the project, in addition to his possible on-screen return.
The cast is not presented as final in the report. Variety says Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum and Ice Cube are in talks to return for the movie. That phrasing matters. Being in talks means discussions are underway, but it is not the same as a completed casting announcement.
Why the dates matter
For audiences, these announcements help clarify what Sony is preparing for theaters in late 2027. One project is a new take on Treasure Island with Hugh Jackman and Ridley Scott attached. The other is a continuation of the Jump Street title, with familiar names potentially returning and Rodney Rothman set to direct.
There are still details not included in the Variety report, including additional casting and plot information for both films. What is confirmed for now is the scheduling: Treasure Island on November 11, 2027, and 24 Jump Street on December 10, 2027.
For Talk Radio 107.7 listeners, it is an early look at two studio films now officially marked on the movie calendar.
