The country hit has now spent 23 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, overtaking Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You”
Ella Langley always believed “Choosin’ Texas” had something special about it, but the country singer never expected the track to reach such historic heights.
On Tuesday evening, Langley celebrated on Instagram after the song made Billboard Hot 100 history. “Choosin’ Texas” secured its 23rd week at No. 1, moving past Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for the longest run at the top of the chart.
In an emotional video shared with her followers, Langley struggled to put the milestone into words.
“I’m genuinely trying to find the words to explain what’s going on in my brain today,” she said, expressing gratitude to everyone who had streamed and supported the song. She even joked about running out of ways to describe her excitement, pointing to her barking dog as evidence of the celebration happening around her.
Langley went on to explain how deeply the song’s success has affected her life and those closest to her.
She said the achievement has not only changed her own life but has also had a major impact on the songwriters and her family. More importantly, she described the success as creating opportunities that could shape the rest of her career. Despite everything happening, Langley admitted the moment still felt almost impossible to believe.
“I’m really excited to just experience a moment like this in my life,” she told her fans before revealing that she planned to celebrate that night. She wrapped up the video with a playful reference to the song, asking, “Choosin’ T… that’s the one huh?”
Months earlier, Langley had already acknowledged that the song was performing far beyond her original expectations. In a Billboard interview recorded in March, she recalled having confidence in “Choosin’ Texas” from the beginning.
Langley explained that when she and her collaborators wrote the track, she already expected it to make her album and believed it would become the project’s lead single. However, she said the level of attention the song eventually received was something she could never have anticipated.
At the time, she described waking up each day to new achievements she had never even considered possible. She also praised the fans for embracing the song and noted how its popularity had reached people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Since that interview, “Choosin’ Texas” has continued to reach new milestones.
The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 2025 before earning Langley her first top-10 hit in January. It subsequently climbed to No. 1 in February, establishing itself as her first chart-topper on the Hot 100.
Its success has extended beyond the all-genre chart as well. “Choosin’ Texas” has remained at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for 41 weeks.
The song’s journey began well before those historic achievements. Langley previously recalled that its origins could be traced to her first songwriting retreat with country star Miranda Lambert and two additional songwriters — and the session reportedly started with an unexpected story involving a kangaroo.
