Alanis Morissette Takes Legal Action Against Former Tour Manager Over Alleged Extortion and Drug Trafficking Threats

Alanis Morissette Files Extortion Lawsuit, Accusing Former Tour Manager of Threatening to Implicate Her in Drug Trafficking

Alanis Morissette is accusing a former tour manager of carrying out what she describes as a deliberate blackmail effort, according to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital.

The “Ironic” singer filed a civil extortion lawsuit Tuesday against Keren Urinov, alleging that her former manager attempted to involve her in a drug-trafficking investigation in the United Kingdom.

According to the lawsuit, Urinov was temporarily hired to manage Morissette’s tour in 2025. The dispute reportedly began during a trip in July of that year, when Morissette and members of her touring team were traveling from Farnborough Airport in the U.K. to Spain for a scheduled performance.

The legal filing claims that a British Border Force officer selected a bag for additional inspection at the airport and asked who it belonged to. Urinov allegedly identified herself as the owner.

The documents state that Urinov later told members of the touring team that authorities had detained her and issued a seizure notice after allegedly finding marijuana and xylazine inside the bag. The filing further claims that she presented a medical marijuana license issued in Israel, after which the authorities returned the luggage and allowed her to leave.

When the touring party returned to the U.K. the following day, Urinov was allegedly detained again. According to Morissette’s lawsuit, she once more claimed ownership of the bag and its alleged contents.

The singer now claims that the situation became an alleged extortion attempt after the tour concluded. According to the court documents, Urinov and her attorney subsequently sent Morissette several letters demanding action.

The lawsuit alleges that Urinov threatened to pursue what Morissette characterized as a baseless legal claim in the U.K. unless the singer told British authorities that the drugs allegedly discovered in the luggage belonged to her.

Morissette further claims that Urinov offered a way to resolve the dispute: a 15-year, full-time position as tour director. Under the alleged proposal, Urinov would receive compensation comparable to a tour director’s salary, along with yearly raises and bonuses.

The lawsuit describes the alleged demands as part of a broader effort to pressure Morissette into providing long-term employment and substantial financial compensation.
