Blake Shelton Says Fake AI Images and Divorce Rumors Have Altered How He Follows the News
Despite persistent online rumors, Blake Shelton says his marriage to Gwen Stefani is stronger than ever.
While appearing on the Country Countdown USA radio show, Shelton spoke with host Lon Helton about how difficult it can be to separate fact from fiction online — especially given the sheer volume of stories written about him and his wife.
Shelton explained that beginning late last year, he started noticing headlines falsely claiming that he and Stefani had split. According to the country star, stories would circulate suggesting the couple was no longer together or heading toward divorce, only to be contradicted days later by paparazzi photos of them running errands together.
He joked that the cycle seemed constant: if they were spotted out in public, reports claimed they had reconciled — and if they weren’t seen, the divorce rumors returned. Shelton said he even expressed confusion to Stefani about the wild narratives circulating online.
Adding to the issue, Shelton revealed that artificial intelligence has made things even murkier. He shared that he’s come across highly realistic images of himself and Stefani on social media that he knows can’t be real, pointing out details like clothing he doesn’t own or unfamiliar vehicles in the background.
Because of this, Shelton admitted he now approaches online content with extreme skepticism, saying he no longer trusts what he sees on the internet and carefully questions the credibility of media sources.
Stefani and Shelton first crossed paths in 2014 when she joined The Voice as a coach. At the time, both were married — Stefani to Gavin Rossdale and Shelton to Miranda Lambert — though each finalized their divorces in 2015.
Later that year, the pair began dating after Shelton won Stefani over with a song. They went on to tie the knot in July 2021 during a small ceremony held at Shelton’s ranch in Oklahoma.
Stefani has previously shared that faith plays a central role in their relationship. During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, she spoke about the importance of having a higher power as a grounding force in marriage, describing God as the “third party” that keeps their relationship centered.
