Benson Boone Jokes About ‘Moonbeam Ice Cream’ After 2026 Grammy Snub
Benson Boone took a lighthearted approach after being overlooked for the 2026 Grammys.
When the Recording Academy announced its nominees on Nov. 7, Boone’s name didn’t appear in any category. On Monday, the singer shared a humorous reaction on his Instagram Story, poking fun at his song “Mystical Magical” missing out.
“Can’t believe moonbeam ice cream didn’t get a Grammy nom,” he wrote alongside a wide-eyed selfie. “It’s literally pure lyrical genius,” he added, referencing the meme-worthy track.
Boone first rose to prominence on American Idol in 2021, making it to the top 24 before withdrawing to focus on his solo career, despite judge Katy Perry telling him he had a shot at winning.
This year, the 2026 Grammy nominations were led by Kendrick Lamar, who scored nine nods, with Lady Gaga, Jack Antonoff, and Cirkut close behind with seven each. Other top nominees included Sabrina Carpenter, Bad Bunny, and Leon Thomas, who each earned six nominations.
Although Boone didn’t secure a nomination this year, he was previously nominated for Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammys. That award went to Chappell Roan, with other nominees including Shaboozey, Sabrina Carpenter, Doechii, Khruangbin, RAYE, and Teddy Swims.
Boone is currently on his “American Heart” tour in Europe, which wraps up on Nov. 18 in Stockholm. He is also scheduled to perform at the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Dec. 4.
