Barry Manilow, 82, has shared that he remains optimistic about returning to the stage despite ongoing cancer treatment, even as he continues to cancel and postpone some performances.
In a recent update, the singer said he is “making great progress” and credited his recovery to treatment, exercise, and following his doctor’s guidance. However, he confirmed that he will not be able to proceed with his May “Hits Come Home” residency shows at the Westgate Resort in Las Vegas, as he is not yet ready to perform at that level.
Manilow noted that while his Las Vegas return will be delayed, he is expected to be well enough for his June arena shows in the UK. He also told fans he is looking forward to resuming his schedule and reconnecting with audiences soon.
He first revealed in December that he had been diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer after doctors discovered a small cancerous spot on his left lung during follow-up scans after a prolonged bout of bronchitis. He later underwent surgery, saying doctors did not believe the cancer had spread and that no chemotherapy or radiation would be required.
