Adam Sandler grabbed everyone’s attention when he released the official trailer for Happy Gilmore 2, nearly three decades after the original film premiered.
In a viral post on X on Tuesday, the 58-year-old actor wrote, “Hope everyone enjoys themselves, and thanks for all the amazing memories.”
The post featured a one-minute-plus teaser, offering fans a glimpse of what to expect when the sequel arrives on Netflix on July 25, with Sandler returning as the unconventional golfer, Happy Gilmore.
In the trailer, Sandler’s character appears unsure about competing against several PGA legends, admitting he “hasn’t swung a club in years.” Despite his doubts, he ultimately chooses to find a “new happy place” and returns to the golf course — where, unsurprisingly, chaos ensues.
Fans have eagerly awaited a follow-up to Sandler’s iconic 1996 golf comedy, where he portrayed a hockey player-turned-golfer determined to save his grandmother’s home.
The sequel will see the return of several original cast members, including Christopher McDonald reprising his role as rival golfer Shooter McGavin and Julie Bowen as Gilmore’s love interest.
This announcement follows a teaser trailer released in December, where Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce made a brief appearance, adding to the excitement surrounding Sandler’s much-anticipated Happy Gilmore 2.
In the video Kelce shared on Instagram, the Chiefs star greets Sandler’s character in the trailer, saying, “It’s great to see you back, Mr. Gilmore!”
Kelce captioned the post, “It’s great to see you back in 2025, Mr. Gilmore! Wishing everyone a HAPPY New Year with Happy Gilmore 2, coming to @netflix in the new year.”
Kelce’s role in the film follows his previous comments on the New Heights podcast, where he expressed his love for Happy Gilmore and shared his hopes of joining the cast if a sequel ever came to life.
Sandler later joined the Kelce brothers’ podcast, where he teased the role the Chiefs star would play in the upcoming film.
“Travis, we’re gonna have fun because the scene you’re doing is with so many great golfers — it’s going to be amazing. You’re going to be funny as hell,” Sandler shared, according to ABC News.
